An Indian American Indra Nooyi story is highly motivational for all women seeking success in life. Nooyi is the chairman and CEO of PepsiCo, world’s second-largest food and Beverage Company. She has consistently ranked among the World’s 100 Most Powerful Women. In 2014, she was ranked on number13 on the list of Forbes World’s 100 most powerful women, and was ranked the 2nd most powerful woman on the Fortune list in 2015. Before rising to the post of CEO she was the President, Chief Financial Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of PepsiCo Inc.

Indra Nooyi story started with her completing her schooling from Holy Angels AIHSS, Chennai. She  received a Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Chemistry and Maths from Madras Christian College in 1974. After completing of her graduation she went to Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta for Masters in Finance and Marketing. According to the IIM faculty, Nooyi had been an average student. While studying in Connecticut, she used to do night-shifts to pay her college fee. She worked as a receptionist  to earn money to purchase a dress for her first job interview after her Masters from Yale. Being uncomfortable with the outfit she was rejected in job interview. For her next interview her professor advised her to wear what she was comfortable with. She draped a sari and got the job and this advice of ‘be yourself’ she is still  following in her career.

Before entering Pepsi,Indra  Nooyi worked with Boston Consulting Group and Motorola. Nooyi persuaded the CEO Roger Enrico of the Pepsi to follow-up the company’s restaurant division, including brands like KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell, as the chief strategy officer.

Indra Nooyi was elected in PepsiCo’s Board of Directors and became President and Chief Financial Officer in 2001, after holding posts of Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in 2000. Nooyi also served as PepsiCo’s Senior Vice President, Corporate Strategy and Development officer from 1996 to 2000. She also served as PepsiCo’s Senior Vice President, Strategic Planning from 1994 to1996. In 2006, Nooyi was named the successor to Steven Reinemund as CEO (chief executive officer) of Pepsi Co. According to Business Week, since Nooyi started as CFO in 2000 Pepsi Co.’s annual revenue has increased 72%, while net profit grew to more than double in 2006.
